It was triggered by exposure to CS gas during my Army training in Fort Knox, KY. At the onset it was accompanied by a terrible allergic reaction that caused my eyes to crust over every night as I slept. Over the past 8 years or so the skin condition has become much better but is still bad enough that if I ever get a massage I warn the masseuse not to be alarmed. I had the same condition.
